Canucks/Chicago Game Schedule

04/28/2009 at 9:15pm EDT

According to Jason Botchford (hat tip to Zanstorm) at The Province’s White Towel blog:

The Canucks are expected to announce soon they will begin their second round series on Thursday and it will be a 6 p.m. start.

Game 2 will be Saturday.

Botchford also mentions that their was some debate about the start times, the “broadcast rights holders” (not sure if that’s just the US broadcaster or CBC as well) apparently pressing for a start time as early as 4pm or 5pm PST.

The Canucks squashed that plan, though I wish they hadn’t agreed to the 6pm start either. That earlier time is difference between us being able to watch the game live, and now having to watch the game afterwards on tape. It’s better than 4pm, but I’m not pleased. I wonder how all the people who will be trying to get from their office to the game on time feel about it.

I realize that it’s a late hour for the Chicago time zone, but what’s the point of home ice advantage if the team who has that supposed advantage has to play on their opposition’s—or the east coast television market’s—schedule?
