Another Canucks Goalie Bites the Dust

image A hockey friend of mine -- who pays attention to the European game with the same dedicated voraciousness of a 14 year old keeping track of hot girls mud-wrestling on cable -- dropped me this email today:
Goodbye to a Canucks legend. According to eurohockey.net, Peter Skudra has retired. I presume we'll see his #1 raised to the rafters of GM Place later this year.
I couldn't find the story myself, but I trust that it's true. (Though, uh, perhaps not the "raise his number" thing).Anyway, whenever I think of Peter Skudra, I feel a bit sad. Our short term backup goalie took a lot of crap from Canucks fans. Then again, every Canucks backup goalie takes a lot of crap from Canucks fans. I figure Skudra has come to symbolize a long line of horrified netminders who have signed with Vancouver at some point or another through history.Good luck in retirement, Peter.
