Would You Trade Carter Rowney For A Mid-Round Pick?

03/04/2022 at 9:07am EST

from Bob Duff of Detroit Hockey Now,

Rowney might not be the first player who comes to mind when discussing Red Wings likely to be moving on prior to the March 21 NHL trade deadline. Still, he possesses qualities that could make Carter Rowney desirable to a contender. He has, after all, won a Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016-17. The price to acquire him would be a mid-to-late round draft pick and at a cap hit of $825,000, he’s entirely afforadble.

“He can play kind of a grind style and get to the net,” Blashill said of Rowney. “The type of goals you need to score against real good teams. You’re not going to get lots of easy looks.

“It’s been a positive to have him back for sure.”

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
