Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press answers some fan mail,
First question is in regards to Jeff Blashill...
HSJ: The Wings are playing better this season than last season, even though it doesn’t show in the standings (they’re 15-17-6 with 36 points, while last year after 38 games they were 15-16-7 with 37 points). There’s a better atmosphere in the locker room. Their 1-7-2 start had a lot to do with injuries — look at when the turnaround began, it was when Green joined the lineup after battling a virus. My sense from talking to people in the organization is they like the job Blashill is doing. It is being judged within the parameters of just how injured the team has been, and that realistically, they are likely to miss the playoffs again. Are the Wings, when healthy, competitive? Are the young players progressing? That’s what will determine what happens next with Blashill.
