Coach Jeff Blashill said he spoke to general manager Steve Yzerman, as he does after every game, following the loss and again Wednesday morning.
“I’m not going to go into our conversations necessarily,” Blashill said. “I don’t think that’s fair, nor do I think I need to do that. I think last night it was pretty evident what anybody would have thought watching our game.”
Coming off a 6-2 loss at Florida Saturday, Blashill said his team has “wilted” the past two games when it has fallen behind.
“It’s compete. It’s effort,” Blashill said. “You got to find a way to be mentally tough and keep grinding and put yourself in a position to hopefully come back. You got to win those net-front battles. You got to close on people fast, you got to have the puck a lot in order to not play defense as much. It’s starts with skating and working and competing.”
