What Did The Wings Work On At Practice Today?

02/28/2019 at 2:03pm EST

from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,

A break in the schedule offered the Detroit Red Wings what they needed: a punishing practice.

Still smarting from their embarrassing performance against Montreal, the Wings went through roughly an hour-long practice Thursday. Their next game is Saturday at Arizona, a chance to halt what’s grown to a six-game winless streak after Tuesday’s 8-1 loss.

“I like to use the word urgency over desperation, but whatever word you want to use, I didn’t think it was high enough,” coach Jeff Blashill said. “I just think some of the simple principles of good hockey — stopping on people, stopping on pucks, winning puck battles, winning puck races, not letting people beat you back to the net. That was the basic principles of everything we did today.”

added 2:20pm, Below, watch Abdelkader and Howard after today's practice.

added 2:22pm, Blashill below too.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
