Coach Lalonde first, Andrew Copp is below.

from Ansar Khan of Mlive,

After having stable lines during a four-game winning streak, the Detroit Red Wings did a little shuffling in practice Tuesday, following a loss to Toronto, and will have some different looks tonight against the Buffalo Sabres at Little Caesars Arena (7 p.m., TNT).

The most intriguing combination has Michael Rasmussen centering David Perron and Tyler Bertuzzi. Perhaps Perron, who has produced consistently (six goals, 16 points in 21 games), can help spark Tyler Bertuzzi, who has been slow to come around after missing 13 games with a broken hand....

Bertuzzi has a goal and two assists in six games since returning and four points (goal, three assists) in eight games overall.

“I think he’s trying to find his game,” coach Derek Lalonde said. “I hate the fact he missed those games through injury; one, because he’s a real good player, and two, we were working on some things within our game, we were starting to limit turnovers, the risk in our game, the ability to get above. He missed a lot of that teaching and structure and now he’s coming in a bit late, and you can see he’s still having some issues at times managing the puck.

“I think there’s some rust there. He could have 4-5 goals already. A little of that rust is maybe his finishing touch, too. He’s around it, he’s involved in a lot of offense. Good sign for us. It’s just a matter of time. I’d be more concerned if he wasn’t getting those types of looks but he’s getting those looks.”

Q: What's next on your docket of events to pursue?

A: Both the NBA and the NHL All Star games are on our radar and the only reason we have not been able to secure these major events is the lack of hotel rooms downtown. We are getting prepped for the next round of NCAA championship bids coming out next year, and USA Olympic qualifiers is a new sports event category that we have identified.

from Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News,

Lalonde challenged Larkin in terms of defense during training camp, and Larkin has more than responded.

"He's been great," Lalonde said. "What I'm pleased with Dylan is, I held him accountable on his play away from the puck, in his end, and hard too and every game he would have, maybe not noticeable to the regular fan, but he'd get beat off the wall, lose a one-on-one battle, miss a check and it adds up in your net or a chance against.

"He's taken a lot of pride in that and his (defensive) numbers are phenomenal, any underlying numbers. He's committed to the right thing. You talk to your skilled guys and all the time that it's not going to hurt your offense, but maybe enhance it, and he believed us and he's getting rewarded."

Lalonde spoke with Larkin early in the season, in training camp.

"To me, it's more winning habits and our commitment to keeping it out of our net," Lalonde said, "and he's (Larkin) had a great buy-in."

And that buy-in, from the captain and one of the Wings' best offensive threats, is crucial.
