from Bob Duff of Detroit Hockey Now,
Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond and Red Wings prospect Pontus Andreasson grew up in the same area of Sweden.
“I played with him when I was younger,” Raymond said of Andreasson.
Oddly enough, their career trajectories this season are following a similar pattern.
In his second NHL season, Raymond went the first seven games of the season without a goal. Since then, he’s accounted for six goals over the past eight games.
Playing his initial season of North American hockey, Andreasson, the top goal scorer in the Swedish League playoffs last season with Lulea, accounted for one assist through his first seven AHL games for the Grand Rapids Griffins. Since then, he’s accounted for seven points in five games, with both a two- and a three-point game during that span and his first multi-goal game in the AHL.
Andreasson is currently riding a three-game point streak during which he’s collected 2-3-5 totals.
from Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now,
After missing the past three Grand Rapids Griffins games with illness, defenseman Simon Edvinsson is feeling better and practicing with the team.
The Griffins play a Wednesday morning (11 a.m.) home game against the Rockford IceHogs. However, the Griffins havent said officially that Edvinsson will play.
Despite missing the past three games, the Swedish defenseman leads all Griffins D men in points with eight in nine games. His total is the highest point total by a AHL rookie defenseman. Edvinsson posted four points in his last four games before becoming ill.

As I posted in an earlier thread, I got to watch the Griffins on local TV Saturday before the Wings game. Andreasson was really impressive in the way he skates with the puck. It's a bit of a stretch, but there were moments where he reminded me of Pavel. Very shifty and excellent overall vision on the ice.
If you watch the video of Andreasson's goal in the Detroit Hockey Now artice, keep your eye on who gets him the puck. That's Cross Hanas who plays a high-energy game and backs it up with great hands. He's got seven goals in 13 games.
I wouldn't be shocked to see both of these guys in Detroit next year, with Andreasson replacing Suter and Hanas replacing Erne.
