As the trade deadline approaches (Feb. 25th, 3pm ET is the date trades must be completed by) I thought I would get your opinion on trades the Wings may possibly make.
Today, Jimmy Howard.
I don't see a playoff team in need of Howard at this point but I could see it changing in two scenarios.
1. If the Blue Jackets trade Sergei Bobrovsky then Columbus will need a goalie. Their backup is Joonas Korpisalo who has started has started 16 games this season and is 9-4-2 with a GAA of 2.96 and SV% of .901.
Howard's numbers are 37 games started, 16-15-5 GAA 2.76 and SV% of .914.
2. The starting goalie for a playoff team suffers and injury which will keep him out of the lineup for at least three weeks.
That team will be in need of a starter who could basically play well enough to get them into the playoffs and possibley beyond.
Since the team the Wings would be trading Howard to is a playoff team, their #1 draft pick would be in the range of 20-31, I see no reason why the team getting Howard would not trade their #1 for him.
Either that or a 2nd round pick plus a roster player and prospect should do the trick too.
