Max Bultman of The Athletic lists five players the Wings could acquire by the trade deadline,
Tanner Jeannot, LW, Nashville
Jeannot was one of the breakout stories of last season for the Predators, scoring 24 goals as a 24-year-old rookie while also leading all NHL forwards in hits with 318. At 6 feet 2, that’s an enticing combination....
Jordan Greenway, LW, Minnesota
Greenway is being shopped, according to Russo, and certainly would add some heaviness to the Red Wings at 6-6, 231 pounds. His six points in 41 games this season — due in part to a staggering 3 percent shooting percentage — has been a steep drop-off from last year, when he had 27 in 62....
Matt Roy, RHD, Los Angeles
Roy was an interesting name to see pop up on Frank Seravalli’s most recent trade board, given the Kings are a playoff team themselves. But if he is indeed available, he would check a ton of boxes for the Red Wings. He’s a right-shot D who could pair with Olli Määttä to stabilize the Red Wings’ third pair.
Nick Jensen, RHD, Washington
This one would be a rental, but perhaps Yzerman would make an exception given that Jensen should not be cost-prohibitive. After all, Brewer was a pending UFA when the Lightning added him back in 2011....
more ($) on each of the above plus Brock Broeser is listed too...
Getting Jeannot would be amazing. The guy is a human wrecking ball and he can score.
I doubt we're trading for a winger, but I'd be happy if we made an offer for Jensen. Caps wouldn't have to retain any salary or anything, so we might get him for a reasonable price.
I think the Wings # 1 target is a backup goalie. They have to be able to rest Husso down the stretch.
Thomas Greiss or James Reimer anyone....
