from Ken Warren of the Ottawa Sun,
There’s a potential silver lining, with a German twist, for all the suffering that both the Senators and Red Wings have gone through for the past five seasons.
If the growth continues, close friends Tim Stuetzle and Moritz Seider will become headliners for their organizations after the painful rebuilds.
While Stuetzle has turned heads in Ottawa, Seider has been a standout in his rookie season with the Red Wings, the frontrunner to take home Calder Trophy honours as NHL rookie of the year.
Seider, who turns 21 next week, has done a little bit of everything for the Red Wings, with five goals and 39 assists. He’s already the power play quarterback, is a regular on the penalty kill and averages 23:09 per game.
“He’s really good in all kinds of situations,” Stuetzle told reporters in Detroit Thursday. “Mo is just an outstanding player, a great guy, too. He’s a really smart guy, we both played in Mannheim and we work out and train together (in the summer).”
