Yzerman inherited a lot of dead-weight, overvalued contracts from Ken Holland. Anything the Red Wings get from Mike Green, Trevor Daley, Justin Abdelkader, Jonathan Ericsson or Darren Helm would be unexpected at this stage....
Undoubtedly, there are Red Wings’ fans hoping they tank for a better chance at the No.1 overall pick, which in the 2020 NHL Draft very likely will be winger Alexis Lafreniere, considered a generational-type talent from Rimouski in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
However, this version of the Red Wings is capable of providing a bit more than the last few editions.
