Stay In Detroit Henrik Zetterberg?

02/02/2018 at 1:45pm EST

from Craig Custance of The Athletic,

According to an NHL source, as long as the current regime is in charge, Zetterberg won’t be asked to waive his no-trade clause if a contending team asks about him, out of respect for Zetterberg and his contributions to the franchise. That’s not to say they wouldn’t honor his wishes if he ever asked for a trade out, but that’s highly unlikely. As he said earlier this season, he wants to retire with the Red Wings.

His friends want him to do so as well.

“He’s had such a great career in Detroit,” Lundqvist said. “I would like to see him end it in Detroit. It’s a cool thing to just play for one organization. We’ll see what he decides to do.”

more (paid subscription), others weigh in on how much longer Zetterberg should play...

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
