from Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun,
Wouldn’t it be something if Bobby Ryan rejuvenated his career with the Detroit Red Wings?
Wouldn’t it be nice to see?
Of course it would.
Everybody loves Bobby Ryan as much as Everybody Loves Raymond Barone.
Well, last season’s Bill Masterton Trophy winner sure is off to a sensational start with his new team.
Ryan missed the opener, a 3-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, because of an injury he suffered in the first week of camp, but since then he has been, well, coming in hot.
In his Detroit debut on Saturday, he scored in a 4-2 win over the Hurricanes, and then on Monday afternoon he had both goals in a 3-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
That puts Ryan on pace for, hmmm, 56 this season.
Not bad for a guy who the Red Wings signed to a one-year, $1 million deal as a free agent after Ottawa decided to buy him out.
A reminder: Ottawa is now paying Ryan $1,833,833 in each of the next four seasons to not play in the nation’s capital.
