Ranking The Players In Detroit's Organization

09/22/2020 at 6:22am EDT

from Ansar Khan of Mlive,

This week, MLive ranks the organization’s top 20 prospects.

To be considered a prospect, a player must meet one or more of these criteria: not assured of an NHL roster spot in 2020-21, exempt from waivers, 20 or fewer NHL games, under age 25.

Today, a look at Nos. 16 through 20.

20. Chase Pearson, center

Height/weight: 6-2/200

Drafted: Fifth round 2015 (No. 140)

2019-20 club: Grand Rapids (AHL)

2019-20 stats: 59 GP, 8 G, 14 A, 22 PT, 17 PM

The Red Wings hope Pearson develops into a fourth-line NHL center who can check, provide energy, kill penalties and be hard to play against. He has been in the organization’s development pipeline for five years, described as a trustworthy player who was learning to bring intensity on a nightly basis.

19. Keith Petruzzelli, goaltender

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
