Quick Recap- Detroit Red Wings/Montreal Canadiens

11/02/2021 at 9:37pm EDT

I knew the Wings would be challenged offensively tonight, so you'd think they would play a tight checking game.

Nope. The Wings could not get out of their own zone for the first 2:06 of the first period. The reason the reason the clock stopped was a goal by the Habs. Montreal scored again seven minutes later and the period ended 2-0.

In the second period the Wings had an extended power play which included :26 seconds of 5 on 3 play. The power play consisted of too many passes and rushed giveaways.

Score remained the same with Montreal up 2-0 after 40 minutes.

The third period was just about the same as the previous periods. Detroit could not generate much offense and Montreal added an empty net goal with two minutes left.

Montreal wins 3-0. Next game is Thursday in Boston.

No goals, no highlights below, just Detroit team stats.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
