PBR Heals All Wounds

12/10/2018 at 6:00pm EST

I was told today that with a (half) marathon staring me in the face on my 50th birthday this Saturday, I should be drinking a lot of water. That's because I have a bit of a cold that is lingering a bit too long.

I've done the research and there is, in fact, water in beer. Some would say there is more water in my favorite beer, Pabst Blue Ribbon, than in others.

So, you know, I'm good.

I was a little swaggery on Saturday. I should have known better. NYI was a trap game, if teams at .500 can even have trap games.

After the last four games, and really after the first seven, this team has found an identity that none of us could have foreseen. Feisty, explosive, young, erratic, a little nervous with a lead, tempermental. Winning.

It's suddenly dawning on us that this team is going to make this winter and this spring very interesting.

To be completely truthful, it doesn't take much to interest most of us. So that wasn't exactly going out on a limb. An episode of LIttle House, maybe a beverage, a Seger tune, some hockey, maybe a fart joke? We're interested.

I need to slow down the bravado.

For like a day. If the Wings win tonight, I'll revisit that necessity tomorrow.

It's a Live Blog, bitches.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
