Why they moved Greenway? I mean good for him, why not? He’s 28 and UFA. Get what you can!

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Not my favorite player.

That's it. I'm officially an Yzerman hater. Well, not really a hater, more of an "I don't like him right now." Okay, maybe that's a bit harsh. But I am pretty peeved. ;-)

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings today acquired a fourth-round pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for center Oskar Sundqvist.

Sundqvist, 27, has skated in 52 games with the Red Wings this season, recording 21 points (7-14-21) and 20 penalty minutes in 14:16 average time on ice. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound forward tallied 29 points (11-18-29) and 37 penalty minutes in 70 games with the Red Wings after being acquired in a trade with the St. Louis Blues on March 21, 2022. Originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round (81st overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Sundqvist has compiled 116 points (47-69-116) and 133 penalty minutes in 340 NHL games between the Penguins, Blues and Red Wings since 2015-16. Sundqvist is a two-time Stanley Cup champion with Pittsburgh (2016) and St. Louis (2019) and has logged 10 points (4-6-10) in 36 postseason contests. He also played in 114 American Hockey League games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and San Antonio Rampage from 2014-18, notching 69 points (22-47-69) and 88 penalty minutes. Prior to arriving in North America, Sundqvist spent three seasons with Skelleftea AIK in the Swedish Hockey League, amassing 36 points (16-20-36), a plus-23 rating and 58 penalty minutes in 106 games from 2012-15. He helped the club capture an SHL title in 2013-14 and a berth in the SHL Finals the following season. The Boden, Sweden, native won a silver medal for his country at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship, potting two goals in seven appearances.

The Red Wings have now accumulated 28 draft picks in the next three NHL Entry Drafts, including five first-round selections and five second-round picks.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
