Onward and Rules of Engagement for 2018-19

Well, well, well. In this, the year before baby Jesus brings our boy back, we have ourselves a bonafide youth movement.

By all accounts, except mine--which I'll get to--the year ahead is sure to be filled with painful losses, juvenile mistakes, even more juvenile comments, angst and pain.

You wanted the kids? You got the kids. Five tonight, alone.

Cholowski, Rasmussen, Ehn, Hronek, Sulak. All rookies. All debuting tonight. Not since 1985 have the Wings opened with that kind of childishness.

But, it's ok, because the rest of the team is so seasoned, right?

Larkin, Mantha, AA, Bertuzzi, Hickets.

Ten Red Wings in their first, second or third year.

You wanted youth, you got it.

We shall see. I think it's going to be the most exciting season we've had in five years. Maybe longer. I think that is a team of talent that would have been "over ripened" in Grand Rapids if this was 2006.

But, as you know, this is most definitely not 2006.

Ripening will occur before our glazed, foggy eyes.

There will be live blogs, bitches. And, it's my intent to return to a semblance of my roots and do some game recaps, usually only after a win because I don't handle losses well...as you may remember. We'll see. I'll do it as long as it's fun.

See you tonite.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
