Oh...They're Relevant Now?

The Avalanche are 15-6-5. Young fast, beloved by the die hard Dive fans who aren't really die hard because that team was forgotten when they started to suck then ignored as they rebuilt. But now that they've done what Chicago and Pittsburgh did years ago? They're back to being adored by the white wine sippers and the vegans and cultural elite in Denver.

The facts, though? That's a damn good, damn fast, damn hot team.

And so here we are. A Detroit team that has refused to tank, gathered steam, begun to believe and may have found the recipe to rebuild as you compete.

26 games into the season the Wings are one game over .500, two points out of a wild card, coming off a violent, comprehensive victory in a place they hadn't won in forever.

What started out as predictably horrible, we now face a season that presents something fascinating.

And those 15-win Avalanche? At home? Not quite as daunting when you consider where the Wings have come from in such a short period of time.

Jeff Blashill is becoming...interesting.

Another night. Another challenge, with Tampa looming.

All we can do is watch and wonder. Seriously.

It's a Live Blog, bitches.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
