My dad was a salesman and I grew up in Detroit. I’m a first-generation American. My parents both came from Germany right before the war. He would occasionally get tickets to sporting events by some of the people that he worked with. And my fondest memories are him taking me to Red Wings games when I was 7, 8 years old. And that was the glory years, some of the glory years for the Red Wings. When they had Gordie Howe, Ted Lindsay and Alex Delvecchio. You know the list, I don’t have to tell you.

And some of the great contests when they were winning the Stanley Cup in those days in the Olympia arena. The Olympia was a great old arena. You were right over the ice. We were up in the rafters but my God you could smell the sweat of the players. So it was fabulous just to be part of it....

-Jerry Bruckheimer, movie/TV producer and part owner of the Seattle Kraken. Scott Burnside of The Athletic has much more (paid) in a Q & A with Bruckheimer.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
