The German Ice Hockey Federation has just announced that, thanks to new developments on the injury front, Moritz #Seider will indeed be joining the team for the upcoming World Championships.
The team will head to #Tampere this Wednesday.
from Bob Duff of Detroit Hockey Now,
“Following the talks immediately after the end of the NHL season, there was further contact between Moritz and us” DEB Sports Director Christian Künast explained in a statement. “Now he has signaled to us that he has fully recovered from his injuries in time and feels 100% ready to go to the World Cup. So there was no question for us to include him in the World Cup squad before leaving for Finland.
“We are happy that we can count on his commitment and energy for the upcoming tournament and that he will strengthen our team. The Detroit Red Wings have also approved, so nothing stands in the way of his participation in the World Cup.”
Seider has represented his country at the World Under-18, World Junior and full senior world tournaments. Even though he’s only 22, he’ll be playing in his fourth IIHF World Championship.
Seider will not play in the pre-tournament game against the USA on Tuesday evening . The German club travels to Tampere, Finland on Wednesday morning. When the tournament starts on Friday, Germany meets Sweden in the country’s opening game.
