The Detroit Red Wings are more potent offensively and winning more since Mike Green returned to the lineup. It's not coincidental.
"He's a dynamic player and can push the play from the back end. We don't have too many of those guys," Niklas Kronwall said. "We're fortunate that he's playing on our team and he's playing really well now, not just pushing the pace, but creating offense, making plays."
Green has 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) in 16 games after missing training camp, the preseason and the first few weeks of the regular season with a virus that was attacking his liver. He is averaging .81 points per game, second on the team to Dylan Larkin's .84, and leads the club at plus-9.
"He controls the pace of play and he's smooth back there," Larkin said. "Having a guy like that back there is huge."
