05/08/2023 at 7:30pm EDT

The comment section is yours. A2Y could become a very busy place or maybe just a few comments. The bingo balls will decide.

Watch on ESPN, Sportsnet or TVAS beginning at 8pm ET.

Hello... Hello...  the echo in this empty room

Paul

Coming up, the lottery.

Coming soon.

A day fans wait for, coming.

Connor, tell us something about yourself.  Lottery coming soon.

Just do it.

StargateSG1

LOL, of course it had to be the damn Chicago

bigfrogStargateSG1

I predicted it last week. Bettman is so obvious. The only surprise is Crybaby not passing the Red Wings.

RedMenace

What the actual fuck was that garbage?

Guess the Wings need some scandals to get anything of value in this league.

I love you, Chelios, but this is one time I will tell you to stfu.

Some media witnessed the lottery in a room with Bettman, all are saying legit, no funny business.

PaulPaul

Media on Twitter had Columbus with the 3rd pick before Columbus card was flipped, hmmm.

I love Kyle Davidson's reaction: "I'm kind of shocked, actually." What they cut out was: "Damn, Lil' Gary said we were gonna to get the #1 and the #2 pick because...well...because."

The League's worst nightmare would have been seeing Bedard go to either Columbus or Arizona. He had to go to a big media market for the good of the League.

I normally don't believe in conspiracy theories but, come on, this is just too damn convenient, and too damn predictable.

KaszyckiandhisKrew

This was worse than when Patrick Ewing was 'selected" by the Knicks.    Of course he was going to an Original Six team or the Flyers.   Would totally have been Pittsburgh if they qualified.   I noticed on the broacast too that Weeksie claimed CBJ was third before they turned the card.   What a joke.  It's disheartening to be a fan of a small market club, this proves the point.

Shanny_Fan

This seems wrigged again.

I don't understand why they don't just put 200 lottery balls in a machine with team logos on them and do it live on the air. 1 ball for every 0.5% chance. If a team wins the first lottery their balls do nothing if they're pulled in the second lottery. That was like watching the results of a 3rd world election.

EthrDemonShanny_Fan

It seems easier to me to fix a drawing where the balls themselves are associated with specific teams (and could therefore be altered in advance) than the current system where none of the numbered balls are "owned" by a specific team.

Just show the damn drawing live, dynamically update the odds graphics as each ball is chosen, and cut the fake suspense of the envelope reveals

Bill_HShanny_Fan

It seems to me if, after the first drawing, all of the winning team's lottery balls aren't removed before the 2nd drawing the odds are altered.

I don't really understand why this was that big of a deal. The drawing is done prior to the unveiling with the cards, so the network already knew the draft order. This was just a graphic screw up.

MZ2215Paul

Multi-billion dollar company doing a production for a mulit-billion dollar league and that's the best they can offer. Fuckin embarrassing. Every year it's something stupid that makes them look shady and there's just no defending them anymore.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
