from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,
In this mock draft, the Wings select center Dylan Cozens.
Cozens is a strong skater with high-end hockey sense. His 200-foot game has earned comparisons to Chicago Blackhawks superstar Jonathan Toews. Cozens is 6-foot-3, shoots right, and produced 34 goals and 50 assists for 84 points in 68 games for Lethbridge in the Western Hockey League. He had nine points in seven games for Canada at the 2019 U18 World Championship.
Cozens is fearless around the net, has a quick release, and an inner drive to be a go-to guy – “someone who can be out there when you need to hold the lead and out there when you need to regain the lead,” Cozens said at the combine. “I believe I have what it takes to be that guy at some point in my career, and I am going to work as hard as I can to be.”
Cozens expressed confidence he can make the jump to the NHL as soon as next season because of how good a skater he is. A summer in the gym should bulk up his 183-pound frame.
