Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
from Lauren Merola of NHL.com,
Detroit Red Wings: New to the Red Wings uniform, a black trim accent runs along the jersey, pant, socks, gloves and helmet for a seamless look. This jersey honors Detroit's 1991 NHL 75th anniversary jersey with a "DETROIT" wordmark inspired by the 1920 Detroit Cougars jersey.
rest of the teams...
Gotta love the O Brother Where Art Thou '30s prisoner look.
Ugly with a capital U.
Somebody needs to lose their job for that disaster.
“I loved them. I think they’re classy, they pop,” coach Derek Lalonde said. “You see my wardrobe, though, I don’t know if I’m the expert on it, but I thought they were awesome.”

Biggest issue, and there's only a glimpse of it in the video - the name on the back isn't arch'ed.
Other than that...meh whatever.
Yeah overall pretty 'meh' indeed. I guess they're mixing it up with the black stripes but i would have seriously considered picking up an actual 'reverse retro' barber pole jersey that was red with white stripes. More disappointed to hear they're wearing these 10 times. At least they only wore the practice jersey editions from last year 4 times...
Looks like Freddie Kruger in nightmare on elm street. No thanks
This is the correct answer.
Haha! That's funny shit CG. And spot on.
Still think they missed by using black stripes instead of white, but I'm warming up to them a little after seeing them with the pants and gloves. Just can't shake the 'O Brother Where Art Thou '30s prisoner' vibe...
The look on his face in the first foto screams.... "WTF!"
WTH?! 2nd gen family taking over... surprised it's not a toga....
