from Kevin Alen of Detroit Hockey Now,
The Detroit Red Wings are hoping to see their younger players take a significant development link this. Here is a projection of the best- and worst-case scenarios for some of the players
Moritz Seider
Best-case scenario: Wins the Calder Trophy because he plays most of the season as Detroit top-pairing defenseman. He registers 38 points on 10 goals and 28 assists.Worst-case scenario: You can see that he’s going to be a dominant defenseman, but he goes through some rough patches by trying to do too much. But he still finished with 25 points and he’s a finalist for the Calder Trophy.
Dylan Larkin
Best-case scenario: Fully recovered from last season’s injury, Larkin scores 24 goals and adds 45 assists to be the team’s No. 1 scorer. Makes the U.S. Olympic team.Worst-case scenario: More bad luck. Has a setback with his injury and ends up out of the lineup for an extended period. Doesn’t make the U.S. team
Alex Nedeljkovic
Best-case scenario: Picks up where he left off last season. Plays 50+ games with 22 wins, a .919 save percentage and 2.57 goals against average. Becomes a finalist again for the Calder. His puck handling helps the Red Wings offensive attack.Worst-case scenario: Discovers the Red Wings’ defense is not the Hurricanes’ defense. Numbers drop. Ends up with 42 games played, .906 save percentage, 2.98 goals-against and 16 wins. Thomas Greiss has a better season.
