Festivities Galore At The Home Opener For The Detroit Red Wings

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings today announced details surrounding the team's regular season Home Opener, presented by Coca-Cola and Meijer, on Thursday, Oct. 4, against the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7:30 p.m. at the award-winning Little Caesars Arena (FOX Sports Detroit / 97.1 The Ticket).

Prior to the game, the Red Wings will hold the third annual Hockeytown Red Carpet Walk, in which current players and alumni walk a red carpet through Chevrolet Plaza to enter Little Caesars Arena prior to the game, giving fans an opportunity to cheer on the team up close before the puck drops on the 2018-19 season. Before, during and after the Hockeytown Red Carpet Walk, Chevrolet Plaza and the plaza outside the Meijer entrance will host a pregame party featuring interactive games, live music and food and drinks for both ticketed and non-ticketed guests.

Fans in attendance at the Home Opener will also have the opportunity to purchase exclusive Hockeytown merchandise and Official Matchup Pucks at the Little Caesars Arena Team Store, collect giveaway items, experience the immersive opening show announcing the 2018-19 Red Wings roster and much more. Additionally, in conjunction with the Home Opener and running through Nov. 30, Red Wings fans can win exciting prizes through the new augmented reality experience within The District Detroit mobile app, presented by Coca-Cola.

Limited seats remain for the Home Opener. Tickets can be purchased in The District Detroit App, online at www.DetroitRedWings.com, at the Little Caesars Arena XFINITY Box Office, or by calling the Red Wings Ticket Sales and Service Office at 313-471-7600.

HOCKEYTOWN RED CARPET WALK

The Hockeytown Red Carpet Walk will take place as each player arrives at Little Caesars Arena from approximately 4:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. in Chevrolet Plaza.

After exiting the Little Caesars Arena Garage, all current Red Wings players and select alumni will walk the red carpet down the center of the plaza to enter Little Caesars Arena. Public Address Announcer Erich Freiny will introduce the players as they begin the walk down the red carpet. Red Wings fans are encouraged to line the red carpet early to cheer on the team.

The Hockeytown Red Carpet Walk is free and open to the public. Fans do not need a ticket to the Home Opener to participate in the Hockeytown Red Carpet Walk. Doors to Little Caesars Arena open at 5:30 p.m. for ticketed fans.

PREGAME PARTY IN CHEVROLET PLAZA BEGINS AT 3 P.M.

The fun gets underway to celebrate Opening Night with pregame festivities at Chevrolet Plaza and outside the Meijer entrance starting at 3:00 p.m. Fans with or without tickets to the game are invited to celebrate the Home Opener with live music and entertainment, interactive games, food and drinks and much more.

The Red Wings Experience, presented by Coca-Cola, will also be set up in Chevrolet Plaza, featuring interactive games designed to give Red Wings fans an opportunity to test their hockey skills, take part in photo opportunities and have the chance to win great prizes.

The pregame party is free to the general public and no ticket is required. All guests entering the plaza areas are subject to a security screening.

HOCKEYTOWN WARM-UP JERSEYS AUCTIONED TO BENEFIT DETROIT RED WINGS FOUNDATION

To commemorate the launch of the refreshed Hockeytown logo, all Red Wings players will wear jerseys with "Hockeytown" featured on the nameplate during pregame warm-ups. Each player will sign the jersey on their respective number and select jerseys will be auctioned at www.DetroitRedWings.com/Auction, with proceeds benefiting the Detroit Red Wings Foundation. The online auction will run through Thursday, Oct. 18.

OFFICIAL MATCHUP PUCKS, HOCKEYTOWN MERCH AND LITTLE CAESARS ARENA REUSABLE BAGS AVAILABLE

Red Wings fans can commemorate the start of the 2018-19 season by purchasing an Official Matchup Puck from the Little Caesars Arena Team Store. Official Matchup Pucks are available at every Red Wings home game for $8 each, while supplies last. Red Wings fans can also purchase men's and women's T-shirts featuring the new Hockeytown logo for $20 each.

New this season, Little Caesars Arena reusable shopping bags are available for $10 in the Team Store. When fans return to Little Caesars Arena and bring the reusable bag, they will receive a 5 percent discount on any future purchase at the Team Store and additional retail locations within the venue.

AUGMENTED REALITY AS PART OF COCA-COLA FAN EXPERIENCE WITHIN DISTRICT DETROIT MOBILE APP

In conjunction with the Home Opener, Red Wings fans are encouraged to launch the new augmented reality feature as part of the Coca-Cola Fan Experience within The District Detroit mobile app to watch exclusive content and have the opportunity to win great Red Wings prizes.

To experience the augmented reality feature, fans must purchase a 16 oz. Coca-Cola can at local retailers (Oct. 2 - Nov. 30) and scan the Winged Wheel logo on the can with their mobile device. After watching an exclusive video, fans will have an opportunity to play Red Wings BINGO through the app. Fans who collect a B-I-N-G-O will be entered to win Red Wings prizes, including tickets and meet-and-greets with select Red Wings players.

Fans are also encouraged to visit The District Detroit mobile app before leaving home to find upcoming events in The District Detroit, purchase tickets and parking, and find the best route to parking lots and venues.

The District Detroit mobile app, presented by XFINITY, is available for free in the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store.

PLAYER INTRODUCTIONS, OPENING SHOW SET FOR 7:20 P.M.

Fans are encouraged to be in their seats at 7:15 p.m., prior to the 7:30 p.m. puck drop, to witness the immersive opening show and official introduction of the 2018-19 Detroit Red Wings roster. The world's largest seamless center hung video board, ice projections, LED Skydeck ceiling grid and theatrical lighting displays will create a visual experience Red Wings fans will not want to miss.

RED WINGS FOUNDATION 50/50 RAFFLE TO BENEFIT THE DETROIT RESCUE MISSION MINISTRIES

During the Home Opener, the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries will join the Detroit Red Wings Foundation and Little Caesars Amateur Hockey League as a beneficiary of the Detroit Red Wings Foundation 50/50 Raffle, presented by Michigan First Credit Union. A portion of the proceeds from each raffle ticket sold will benefit Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries to provide solutions to homelessness, joblessness, neglect, hunger and abuse in Metro Detroit. Returning this season, credit cards will be accepted for raffle ticket purchases of $20 or more. Cash is also accepted.

RALLY TOWELS SET FOR HOME OPENER

All fans in attendance for the Home Opener at Little Caesars Arena will receive a red or white commemorative Rally Towel featuring the new Hockeytown logo, presented by Coca-Cola and Meijer.
