It's looking like it might be a good idea to fire Jeff Blashill.
Rebuilding is one thing, ask Ron Gardenhire.
By all accounts, the Tigers had a losing season but played the right way.
By the same accounts, the Red Wings are going to have a losing season of epic proportions and seem to be completely disorganized and disheveled.
It's one thing to bring up the youngsters and teach them to play hard, and play the right way, and lose.
It's another to ice an apathetic team, throw combinations together that put Darren Helm on the top line, then stare at the ceiling as you get your ass handed to you.
Dan Bylsma may be your temporary huckleberry. He was probably brought in not to just "fix the powerplay" but as a quick relief should Blashill need to be replaced.
After the last two debacles which are prime indications that there is no leadership and no structure, no plan and no fire...Jeff Blashill needs to be replaced.
60 minutes of what? Hell? Seriously. Whoever paid for those t-shirts wasted 48 bucks.
In all honesty, if Blashill is still the coach of this team this afternoon, it's very much an indication that there is no solid leadership at the top of this organization.
This is not rebuilding. It's tanking, and it's not even intentional. It's just horrible hockey played by middling veterans and kids, coached by a guy who has proven again and again that he is not equipped to keep the job he lucked into when the best coach in hockey saw the writing on the wall and hit the high road to Ontario.
The worst team in hockey is playing without system, without urgency, without aggression. They are bad and they are directionless.
I think that may mean Jeff Blashill needs to be fired. Today.
Rebuild the right way. Rebuild the Gardenhire way. This is ludicrous.
Bring in someone who will require this team to play hockey the way their junior and college coaches taught them to play, not the way their NHL coach allows them to.
