from Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now,
The NHL conducts it’s annual Draft Lottery (8 p.m.) and it’s challenging for Detroit Red Wings fans to muster to any interest in the proceedings.
Move along. Nothing to see here.
The Red Wings, based on their 24th place finish in the final standings, only have a 5.0% chance of winning the No. 1 pick. They have a 5.2% shot at winning the No. 2 pick.
More importantly, the Red Wings haven’t had any luck in the NHL Draft Lottery. Three years ago, Detroit owned the NHL’s worst record and wound up drafting fourth overall.
Try the Tankathon NHL Lottery Simulator. I tried it 50 times, the Wings never finished first.
I ran it the last day of the season and Wings won first time, I haven't tried again.
The original title of the article is :
Red Wings Are Like a Derby Long-
shot in Tonight's Lottery
And a longshot just won the Kentucky Derby. Coincidence? I don't think so!
Wings got the first pick on my 10th spin of the simulator. Pretty sure that's a good sign.
Spoiler: the Wings will get screwed.
Lucky for the Wings is picking 9th...not 10th.
Former Wing Vic Stasiuk passed away over the weekend, he was 94.
from Wikipedia,
He was part of three Stanley Cup teams in 1952, 1954, and 1955. In 1954, however, although Stasiuk played 42 regular season games for Detroit, because he spent the playoffs in the minors, his name was left off the Stanley Cup after the Wings captured the league crown.
more, had a very solid 3-4 years with the Bruins....
