It includes all players under contract for next season plus restricted free agents whose rights the Red Wings still hold, so there are some players listed below who may not (or even are not expected to) return next season. Those instances will be noted in the analysis section.

I’ll preface all of this by saying this is not a ranking of talent or potential. The order players are listed is meant to reflect a rough approximation at how they fit into the NHL and AHL lineups at present, but the order itself is less important than the accompanying analysis. And of course, a lot can change with one trade or free-agent signing this fall.
