from Max Bultman of The Athletic,
It’s easy, from the outside, to conclude the losing is likely to continue en masse for Detroit this season, with only sparing chances remaining to win games. It’s probably true. But if you’re a member of these Red Wings, that kind of thinking isn’t really an option.
And if those thoughts do start to creep in, and this volume and frequency of losing begin to feel normal, then the problems could become way bigger than even these nightly results can reflect.
“There’s two things that you fight when you’re in the spots that we’re in,” Jeff Blashill said. “One is — and I’ve talked about this lots — frustration builds in, and it’s the biggest wasted human emotion there is. So you’ve gotta get rid of frustration. But, two, you can’t let it be OK, to yourself or for each other. So am I concerned about that? Yeah. Oh yeah. We can’t let this be OK. It’s not OK.”
