7 Detroit Red Wings

There was no earthquake move for the Red Wings to match last year’s Anthony Mantha blockbuster, but Detroit moved out three pending UFAs for a combination of futures and roster players to continue its rebuild. The returns for forward Vladislav Namestnikov (2024 fourth-round pick) and defenseman Troy Stecher (seventh-round pick) were fine — if a bit underwhelming for two high-motor competitors — and Namestnikov, in particular, will leave a hole in Detroit’s nightly lineup. But the Leddy return was quite strong — a 2023 second-round pick plus defenseman Jake Walman and forward Oskar Sundqvist, the latter of whom brings some needed size to Detroit’s forward corps. - Max Bultman
