Coach Lalonde is first, below find Lucas Raymond.

from Ansar Khan of Mlive,

Bertuzzi sat out the third period of Thursdays 3-2 victory in Vegas. He previously missed 29 games on two separate occasions due to broken right and left hands that required surgery.

Its been a tough go for him. Hes been unable to get traction in his game, Lalonde said. I feel for him. He gets a couple games, injured; a handful of games, injured; We have a very good record with him. Its not him having four-point nights, its him playing in our top six and slotting players where they belong. Thats what you miss. It was only a matter of time before his game was coming around.

Lalonde added: Hes competing, hes getting chances. Its unfortunate because hes a skilled guy and I think you need the rhythm and pace of your game. Every game hes played, hes turned the puck over less because its slowing down for him. He looks more in rhythm. Keep battling. We need him back.

Lalonde said he had moved Bertuzzi off the line with Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond for defensive concerns and balance.

Watching a lot of Detroit video from last year, I liked the line, but for whatever reason when those three get together it just feels like a run-and-gun, Lalonde said. Their analytics is bad; they give up more chances than they get. I just think its kind of spreading out that offense. When the three of them get together, the horse race is on, and were not built like that and its not a recipe for success. Weve had them together for some offensive spark, but weve had some success spreading those guys out in the lineup, too.

more on the Wings...

Those kinds of observations/comments are why I like Lalonde so much. He's not trying to build the "showiest" team on the ice. He's looking to build a team that plays the way their overall skill set is best suited. I don't think Bertuzzi will ever be happy playing a more "controlled" game (and maybe he shouldn't).

So get the guy healthy, do what you need to do to keep him healthy, and then trade him a month from now to a team who's all about the "run and gun." The return the Wings get will be diminished by all of the injuries he's had, but it'll be better than letting him walk away for nothing this summer.
