Ansar Khan tweets,

Lalonde said he and Yzerman were on same page with decision to waive Vrana. Didn’t shed any light on reasons why but called it a tough decision because of his offensive ability. We’ll see if he’s claimed at 2.

Lalonde hopeful Bertuzzi, Zadina will return during Western trip Jan. 16-19. "They both look good. ... You can see in practice they’ve been fully involved. Hopefully sooner than later.”

Lalonde said Nedeljkovic will play tonight and one or both games this weekend for @griffinshockey. He might stay longer. It's maximum 14 days. "We haven’t given up on Ned. We want to see him get his game in order and re-evaluate it from there.”

Robby Fabbri on line with Suter, Sundqvist tonight. First game since 3/10, before 3rd ACL surgery. Lalonde: We’re excited getting him back in a lot of ways, power play one of them. 5 on 5, he plays with some jam. Proven player, part of our leadership group inside room.

Below, watch Lalonde and Michael Rasmussen after today's skate.

via Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News,

Vrana recently returned from a two-month stint on the NHL/NHLPA players assistance program, after having played the first two games of the season with the Wings. Vrana played three games in Grand Rapids last week on a conditioning stint and is scheduled to remain there this week.

"We don't want to get into the details of it, especially with the situation where Jakub is in, his coming back (from the program) and it's private and personal to him, but ultimately, we had to make a decision and that's the decision.

"He does provide goals. Where he is in his game, you hope to get back to obviously and he's getting his game in order, he's in the process of getting his game in order, and hopefully to where he was. It's all part of it. I can't project where he'll be for us, or anybody else in time. He's in the middle of getting his game in order."

Great video from the Wings.  It really gives a limited snapshot into the HUGE world that is sports rehab and what these guys have to go to to not only recover from a big surgery but also to get into NHL game-shape.

Thank you for sharing Paul. You have to root for this guy. Talk about ❤️

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
