Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
This needs to be said - dont take Tylenol folks. Its acetaminophen - it is so bad for your liver. The only reason it isnt illegal is lobbying by Johnson & Johnson, the same folks that kept talc in their baby powder knowing it was a carcinogen for 20 years. I dont often get fired up about this sort of thing but when our government wont it takes us little guys to do it.
Tylenol is perfectly safe in recommended doses. If one takes 4 grams a day, thats 8 x 500mg Extra Strength Tylenol, for extended periods, a small number of people may begin to experience damage to the liver. Thats a huge dose that only rarely would be recommended, such as immediately after a joint replacement surgery for a brief period.
It would be a huge mistake to not have acetaminophen available for the benefit of its common uses.
What alternative, ibuprofen? Again perfectly safe in recommended doses and uses. Sean Elliott had kidney problems with ibuprofen, after taking 2400 mg (12 tablets) a day for 11 years trying to get through knee pain and remain a player in the NBA.
Water will kill you if you over indulge. Common sense uses of acetaminophen and ibuprofen are perfectly safe, and I am not on the take from any drug company.
So you two guys are on the seller and buyer sides of the argument? :-)
