That is good news, feared the worst
Yeah, absolute best case scenario for him.
from Ansar Khan of Mlive,
“Day to day. We’ll proceed cautiously, obviously, with his past history,” coach Derek Lalonde said. “I think there’s some optimism on the injury. Don’t know if he’ll be available Saturday. We’ll have a better feel tomorrow.”
Fabbri didn’t practice Thursday but might be on the ice Friday, after which the team will determine his availability for games against the Boston Bruins Saturday at TD Garden (1 p.m., ABC) and Sunday at Little Caesars Arena (1:30 p.m., TNT). He was injured on a hit from Chicago’s Tyler Johnson along the boards.
Fabbri missed the first half of this season recovering from ACL surgery on his right knee. He had the same procedure twice on his left knee earlier in his career with St. Louis.
“Seeing it, his reaction, and his past history, the boys were a little rattled about it last night,” Lalonde said. “I think was some optimism once the doctor got involved.”

Saw a tweet from last night that said he went over to the practice sheet between periods and tried to take a spin and was encouraged it wasn't as bad as it looked. After seeing it live and watching a slow-mo replay was sure it was at minimum a bad MCL sprain and potntially ACL #4 based on his toe facing straight/left and his body rotating right the way it did during/after the hit
If Fabbri is unavailable this weekend, a call-up is likely given back-to-back, Lalonde said.
My guess is they'll call of Czarnik because they know what he can do at the NHL level (and he's 13-23-36 in 42 games with the Griffins). But since the next two games are against Boston, I'd love to see them call up Dominik Shine. He's 5'11" and 180lbs and plays a hard, hard game. He'd probably only be good on the 4th line, but he could match any kind of assininity that Marchand dishes out.
It's too bad Joel L'Esperance is only on an AHL contract. He's 6'3" and 215lbs with 19 goals and 18 asists in 55 games. He could probably play on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th lines. It'd be nice to see what he could do in Detroit.
And it's a real shame Cross Hanas is injured right now. He's the closest thing in GR to the kind of player Bert was.
Coach Lalonde after practice.
Larkin, Zadina, Veleno and Lalonde on facing Bertuzzi and the Bruins.
via the Detroit Free Press,
Great news.
from Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News,
The Bruins are on pace for 136 points, which would break the mark set by Montreal (132, through a 60-8-12 record) set in 1976-77. It took Montreal 62 games to reach 100 points that season.
"What they're doing, it's like Tampa a couple years ago when they were going for the record," captain Dylan Larkin said. "All their big guys are playing real well. Their top players play two-way hockey and it bleeds through the whole lineup. They don't really have any holes. With the additions they made, it's even more of that.
"They're gearing up for war and I really believe that. It's pretty crazy what they've done, and how they're playing, is no surprise."
One of those additions, incidentally, if former Wings forward Tyler Bertuzzi, who was dealt to the Bruins last week at the trade deadline.
What did Bertuzzi tell Larkin it felt like playing for the Bruins?
"He said it's cool playing on a good team," Larkin said.
Coach Derek Lalonde was an assistant coach on the Tampa team that won 62 games — but got swept in the first round in four games by Columbus.
Lalonde has seen this type of consistent winning before, but he's been impressed by how the Bruins are doing it.
"The parity in this league is unbelievable, and anyone can beat any other team, Team 32 can defeat Team 1 on any given night, especially in our sport," Lalonde said. "But they're pushing for some history. I experienced that in Tampa, where we had a chance for the Red Wings' record, which we ended up tying. It was real, and the guys did not (scale back), and it might have hurt us, looking back, when we got swept by Columbus. We lost sight a little bit of the big goal, which was the playoffs.
"We're not going to get a Boston Bruins night off. Sometimes you might catch an elite team sleeping. The way they're pushing, you can see they're playing for something every night and it's real. We'll get their best both nights."

Interesting this should appear 1 day after this subject about Boston’s historical season was written about in Kukla’s Korner. I am certain that Ken Daniels and others in the media frequent this site regularly. I have heard Ken on several occasions over the years site stats or subjects just written about right here. Coincidence? Maybe.

Ouch.
yeah, i love fabs too, but SY should've moved him. you gotta know it's just a matter of time before he has to hang them up.
btw, guess who scored the game winner for the blues tonight?
