Detroit applied a lot of pressure in the first five minutes of period one with numerous scoring chances but were held off the score sheet. Chicago added two goals in the period and after 20 minutes, it was 2-0.
A much better second period, Detroit scored early and late to make it 2-2 after two.
In the third period, Chicago scored with just under 14 minutes to play to take a 3-2 lead.
Detroit evened the game with just over 7 minutes left, 3-3.
With 4:07 left in the third, Detroit scored again to take a 4-3 lead.
No more scoring, Wings win 4-3.
Below watch the lower body injury to Fabbri (he did not return) and the Detroit goals.
A win is a win at this stage of the season.
Yea, better for the team to pull this out than improve their lottery odds by less than 1% or whatever. This time of year is tough on fans, but I can’t imagine working with a team whose playoff drought is this bad. You have to have such a long view.
Who am I kidding, I’d sign up tomorrow if they called, but only in DET.
Fun game! Beautiful tip by Raymond. chiasson looked good out there. Weird seeing that name on the back of a redwings jersey again. Flashback to the late eighties.
They looked good at times but honestly Chicago was just absolutely miserable. I think there was a point where they didn't have a SOG in 11 minutes. That team is such a trainwreck. Unless they win the draft lottery, they've got a lot of misery ahead.
This is what Chicago wanted, and frankly, with what appears to be a pretty surefire superstar being available, Bettman and the Brass is drooling over him going to one of the larger media markets, and I got this feeling that all of Chicago's lotto balls will be injected with helium
Chicago was truly awful. Game could have easily been 9-3 for the Red Wings which is why it was so frustrating for me to see them down 3-2 pretty late in the game. Thank goodness the pulled it off and ended the losing streak.
Now go win 10 in a row with the "simple" task of continuing with a 2 game sweep of the Bruins.
