The first two shots Detroit took in the first period went in. After that, both teams settled in and the first twenty minutes saw the Wings up 2-0.
Vancouver dominated the first half of period two, added and early goal but Detroit scored with about 7 minutes left in the second to take a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.
In the third period, Detroit scored the first two goals, then Vancouver scored to end the game 5-2 Detroit.
