No scoring in the first period, Wings outshot 16-7 although I can only recall about six shots from the Islanders.
It's a lazy day for me today so...
Detroit leads 1-0 after two. They are 19-0-2 when leading after 40. Isles have won 6 games when trailing after two.

Massive third period coming up. This would be a difficult loss to swallow.
Two goals early in the third by the NYI gave them a 2-1 lead and then with just over four minutes to play, the Islanders added a power play goal, 3-1. Add another goal for the home team, 4-1 and that is how the game ended.
Below watch an interview with Alex Chiasson and the Detroit goal.
Paul - thank you for that comment about the shots.....I was hanging out in between periods with some Isles fans and a couple of Wings fans attending their first game at UBS. I think the shot clock guy was trigger happy - either that - or if we had that many shots - it would be making the DET goalie the next Terry Sawchuk! Much like the Isles official scorers overcount Matt Martin or Cal Clutterbuck hits (so the team could lead the league in SOME category) or in the past - inflate the shots on goals against to make DiPietro's save % stats better - I did not believe that stat.
The Red Wings hung in there, but you knew it was just a matter of time.
I turned it on during second intermission, then spent 20 minutes trying to get baby to nap. Came back downstairs and found the wings down 4 to 1. Unreal.
Probably will not be making time to watch them the rest of the season.
My friend who is a drive-by wings fan was all excited about the picks Y got. I guess those are the fans the wings are pandering to at this point, because it's not me.
