The Wings scored early in the first period to take a 1-0 lead and that is how the period ended. The Hurricanes had a slight advantage but Ned was good in goal.
For 19:57 minutes of the third period there was no scoring, then Detroit scored with three seconds left to win 3-2.
Detroit goals are below.
Honestly, Walman has been the best surprise this year by far. I don't think there's anyone even in the same conversation.
Agreed. He really took his game up a few notches
He took his game from the bench/3rd pair to the top unit, extremely impressive.
Another nice game. Maybe somewhat of a building block for next season. Keep in mind they were badly out shot. Again. Lets see what Yzerman does during the off season.
Ken Kal with the call.
Ned was fantastic. Great game
Ned should have been first star tonight.
So what are the Wings doing with Ned? He was 100% leaving the organization 3 weeks ago, now he's our starter (in place of an injured Husso of course)
They must be sold on not bringing back Hellberg as backup.
My gut feeling is that they don't bring either of them back unless they strikeout in trade targets / free agency.
Very nice win, I did not even realize it was 3 seconds left when Walman scored. I think we are the worst team in the league when it comes to tanking.
I saw Helberg live when we played against the Islanders, he is not a good goalie. Goes down on his knees early on every shot.
