Once he’s in, Nedeljkovic will have to be reassigned to minors, as Wings had him on emergency and no regular call ups left.
Sorry to hear that about Marco. One game in and the physical play takes a toll. Could happen to anyone. Hope he comes back 100% shortly.
I thought I read somewhere Kasper was already hurting when he came from Sweden.
Just after he arrived it was reported "Before the game, coach Derek Lalonde said forward Marco Kasper, the Wings' first-round draft pick last July who Thursday was recalled to the NHL, is likely to play in one of these final seven games of the season. But Kasper is dealing with an upper-body injury suffered late in Kasper's Swedish Hockey League season and isn't quite yet available to play." This appears new as it is listed as "lower body".
Thanks for the clarification. I am not too bummed not seeing him play tonight. there will be plenty of games ahead for him. Knock on wood.
If I was a player I would be jacked to play in Montreal.
from Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now,
The Detroit Red Wings’ plan to give Marco Kasper his second NHL game today in Montreal has been derailed by a lower body injury.
“I don’t think this will be long,” Detroit coach Derek Lalonde said. “We hope to have him for Thursday. But he will see game action again sometime this year, just not tonight.”
The other Detroit news is injured goalie Ville Husso (lower body) is cleared to start tonight. Montreal’s starter is Cayden Primeau, son of former Red Wings forward Keith Primeau.
“I think the medical staff would like to see how he handles the stretch here,” Lalonde said. “So, we’re going to play him and hope to play him a lot.”
When Kasper is officially activated, Alex Nedeljkovic will be reassigned to Grand Rapids because he’s here on emergency recall. The Red Wings have used all four of their regular recalls.

Ansar Khan of Mlive,
Lalonde said Kasper will compete for an NHL job next season in training camp, but the odds appear stacked against him when the team has a healthy roster.
“That’s a lot to ask,” Lalonde said. “This organization, we’ve been very patient with those things, and rightfully so. It’s probably going to depend on his summer, his approach to next year. But I love young players, will give him very opportunity, but that’s a long ways away.”
Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press ($),
It is intriguing to wonder if Kasper can be in the Wings' lineup as soon as next season. He turns 19 on Saturday, and is unacclimated to the smaller ice sheet used in North America. Fellow Europeans Moritz Seider, the No. 6 pick in 2019, and Simon Edvinsson, the No. 6 pick in 2021, both spent a season in the AHL before joining the Wings. But, they are defensemen, where mistakes are more magnified than among forwards. Kasper centered the second line Sunday, but the Wings could play him on the third line as he adjusts, or even start him at wing, as they did with Dylan Larkin....
The Wings will do what they did with Edvinsson last fall: Put Kasper in as many exhibition games as possible, and let him show where he belongs.
For now, bringing Kasper over from Sweden is a fine baptism. He was tasked Sunday facing either Auston Matthews or John Tavares, and it showed in Kasper winning just one of eight faceoffs.
"That's a tall task, period, Matthews and Tavares all night," Lalonde said. "I think Tavares was 21 of 26 against us on the whole. But those are learning experiences, absolutely. "
