NEW YORK (Feb. 22, 2023) – Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for cross-checking Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie during NHL Game No. 909 in Washington on Tuesday, Feb. 21, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 12:37 of the first period. Larkin was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for cross-checking.
The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

He said he was sorry. Wasn't that good enough? (Sarcasm off)
Hmmmm,..... kind of a weird play?!? That said, I guess his salary demand just went to $8,505,000!
Lucky he didn't get suspended for a couple of games with the NHL trying to cut down on infractions to the head!
The problem is that the NHL is not serious about doing that.
*Larkin looks at Jamie Benn*
"Oh, this is illegal now?"
Dogshit.
That is absolute garbage. Especially when Larkin took the same contact against Jamie Benn and it went totally unnoticed on all levels.
Also funny is how the NHL punishes unintentional contact to the head more aggressively than it does intentional contact to the head.
Between his immediate reaction afterwards (Oshie has had head injury issues in the past), and him buying a fan a beer after knocking theirs off the glass during a pregame warmup, I'm really starting to like this #71 fellow.
The DoPS ought to refund that $5,000.
