Whither Forsberg?

Not real sure why I used the term “whither” in the headline.  Sounds all Shakespearian, so that’s cool.  Before we get into the second word used in that header, I thought I’d let you know about something I observed on the flight to San Antone yesterday.  I somehow got upgraded to first class.  Giddy up.  As a result I got to use the “executive head” in the front of the plane, not the coach stalls like the rest of you unwashed have to use when you fly.

Check this out.  On the mirror in the “executive head”  there’s a little sign that says something like, “for the convenience of your fellow travelers, please clean the wash basin before returning to your seat.”  I wasn’t into that.  In fact, I’m not sure I’ve ever cleaned a basin, executive or otherwise.  But that’s not the interesting thing.  Written below the English version of that little suggestion was the same thing, I assume, in French.  I had a feeling. So I took a stroll back to the coach bathroom.

Same message, in English.  But no French translation beneath it.  Just as I suspected.  I guess when the French fly, the French fly first class baby. And only first class.  Shocking?  Didn’t think so.

Alright…Forsberg.  First of all, it would appear that nabbing him will take a couple of picks, a prospect and a roster player. And not just any prospect.  They apparently asked the Duckies for Bobby Ryan, the #2 overall behind your boy Sid.  Ummm, yeah. That’s not gonna happen.  But it does set the bar, I suppose.

Who would the Wings offer to compete or at least get in the conversation?  Picks? Whatever.  Send ‘em.  Prospects? Who?  Howard? Ummm, Howard?  Our stable’s not bare, but there’s no Bobby Ryan down there.  Off the roster, Hudler?  Flippula?  I’ll buy Hudler the ticket, even one that lets him read French in the head.

Matthew Wuest, the frigging Wing prospect genius, posted an article yesterday about Hat-trick-Dick.  Yep, the dickster.  Dick Axelson. 19 and a prolific scorer.

Heck, I’d score prolifically if my name were hat-trick-Dick too.  Anyway, when discussing trade bait, there’s more than meets the eye.

Hudler, the Dickster, a few picks for Forsberg?  Who knows.

One more word on Forsberg.  If the Wings get him, if the skies break and the rainbows appear and Stamp Boy shows up wearing a funky wheel, let’s all make a promise right here and now.

We will NOT use the term “Foppa”.  Just writing it makes me want to hurl.  Resist it my friends.  Resist.  But that’s down the road.

And only if Holland deals a legend in wait, Hat-Trick-Dick.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
