from Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now,

Moritz Seider has only played 25 games and already he has earned a reputation as player who delivers when the game is on the line. Earlier this season, he scored in OT on a wicked shot to beat Buffalo (Nov. 6).  It was a similar situation against the Islanders when he made a perfect shot from a sharp angle to win the game.

Seider became the first rookie defenseman in franchise history, and the fifth rookie blueliner in NHL history, to net multiple overtime goals in a single season, joining Brent Seabrook (two with Chicago in 2005-06), Cam Fowler (two with Anaheim in 2010-11), P.K.Subban (two with Montreal in 2010-11) and Shayne Gostisbehere (four with Philadelphia in 2015-16).

The German rookie played 27 minutes and 19 seconds. He plays a more dynamic style in 3-on-3 situations. “Nobody wants to go to overtime, but it is always treat to be out there,” Seider said.

The Red Wings have been hoping that Givani Smith would start taking his game to the next level this season. He’s been a disappointment.  Too inconsistent. But against the Islanders, he took a small step.

Hey Paul - hope you are feeling well!!!!!

I was telling you all about Givani Smith earlier in the week.  Remember?

Sorokin blew that last shot by Seider - he was not in position - but I am not trying to discount that Seider had a great shot.  Will be interesting to follow his career now and in the Olympics for Germany.  First game this year I watched a whole Detroit game and I can see why the fans are all excited.  You should be!  Great pick for the Wings.

But I was just writing to wish you well and glad to see you are back.  I enjoy reading this site for the NHL coverage you provide.  And to keep tabs on the Wings from time to time.

Have a good night all!

Feeling better every day Kas… and I remember.

The Isles are much better than they have performed this season but it is time for them to get it in gear, or else….
