Welcome to our NHL player cards page where you will find data visualizations for each relevant player on the Detroit Red Wings, stylized as hockey cards. Each card contains a player’s info, role, and salary as well as his stats — both basic and advanced, projected and actual — for an at-a-glance look at his value and ability.
Click here for more on how to read these cards, how the model works, or how market value is determined.
Below, see the Dylan Larkin card and here are more Detroit players.

Fabbri is overpayed but I’m fine with it. The Wings needed stopgap middle sixers who could score. Fabbri has been a good fit. Only 3 years, only $4 million, only 25 years old, and the Wings are unlikely to spend to the cap or be a contender for at least another couple of years. That’s an overpay worth making.
Hronek has never had good analytics. I do think Dom’s model probably underrates him somewhat, but I also think that he has never been nearly as good as most fans think he is. He has lots of good tools and looks good skating the puck up ice, but I think his hockey sense and decision-making are questionable.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: wphoulihan@gmail.com
That Fabbri extension is looking not great with a market value of $2.6M and next year’s contract going to $4M a year.
Hronek’s market value of $1.8M compared to $4.4M might show where the model breaks a little. Seems d-men are generally undervalued on this model.
