Redundancy

12/29/2016 at 6:30pm EST

Two things I learned in the last 48 hours. Our resident pharmacist at TPSH came up with this nugget today.

The Columbus success this year has been a big story so far this season. It is a big story because it is unexpected and so large. There are several indicators that suggest that it is bigger than sustainable.

That's a big statement on a big topic made by a big man with a big agenda, to break the biggest stories on the biggest stage.

Something else, better written and more relevant to 19 of us? This from Tuesday's Live Blog.

0-1. Didn’t take long.

That's ten games in a row, if you're counting...and you know we are, Kenny...that the Wings have given up the first goal.

That, to quote Steinbeck, is a good way to get your ass kicked on a consistent basis.

That is just part of something I like to refer to as The Holland Referendum.

Why, oh why, why, why, why does anyone between whichever Ilitch spawn is running this team and Hank Zetterberg still have a job?

Holy mother of fuch. The worst power play in the history of hockey history. A team that can't win at home in The Final Season at the Joe. The worst blue line in hockey (assembled by the "best GM in hockey").

A locker room that has got to be divided, coached by a nice guy without a clue.

And the Wings keep posting stuff from '97, to rub our noses into what this franchise used to be. Yzerman, Shanahan, Bowman...all of them back with us Tuesday. My god, that was disgusting. All of them back for one night before they returned to organizations with actual GMs. Back to teams with futures. Back to teams with farm systems. Back to teams who aren't afraid to spend, or to blow it up and build again instead of yearning to sustain a streak that means nothing.

Ken Holland must have been humiliated. He must have been embarrassed to show his face. I didn't see any imagery of him with Shanny, or The Captain or Scotty. Good. I'd hate that picture. I'd hate it really hard. That grinning dipshit along people actually improving their teams. Disgusting.

But hey, Alfie's number is being retired tonight. He was pretty good for us. Naturally, he was brought in at the tail end of his career along with everyone else who finds a home in Detroit to rake in some cash their last couple months in hockey.

Last place in the Atlantic because you...can't...beat...Buffalo...at home.

If you're looking for optimism from me, forget it. I will never toe that line or inhale that exhaust or swallow that swill. Not now. This team has been run into the frigging gutter by a guy who should have given up the reigns years ago to a hungrier, more creative, more aggressive and younger guy.

It's a Live Blog.

LGRW and fire Holland.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
