FRISCO, Tex. – The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has signed right wing Mark Parrish to a one-year contract worth $500,000.

“We feel that Mark will bring a great deal of experience and leadership to our club, as an established veteran in this league,” said Co-General Manager Les Jackson. “He is a talented player with some obvious two-way capabilities and we feel he will be a positive addition to our group.”

Parrish, 31, skated in 66 games with Minnesota last season, notching 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points. He served as captain for the Wild for the month of December 2007, his third monthly stint as Minnesota’s captain (February 2007 and March/April 2007). The native of Bloomington, Minn., has skated in 660 career NHL games with the Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, Los Angeles Kings and Minnesota Wild, registering 208 goals and 164 assists for 372 points.

The 5-11, 199-pound right wing has also skated in 27 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, recording five goals and four assists for nine points. He has scored 16 or more goals in each of his nine NHL seasons.

Originally selected by Colorado in the fourth round (79th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Parrish skated for Team USA at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. He also donned a USA jersey at the 2001 World Championships, and the 1996 and 1997 World Junior Championships.

Skating at St. Cloud State University from 1995-97, Parrish earned NCAA West Second All-American Team honors and led the WCHA in goals in 1997. In 74 games at SCSU, Parrish recorded 42 goals and 28 assists for 70 points. In 54 games with WHL Seattle in 1997-98, Parrish collected 92 points (54 goals, 38 assists) to earn team MVP and First-Team WHL All-Star honors.
