Huddy Names Asst. Coach In Dallas

FRISCO, Tex. – Dallas Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk announced today that the club has named Charlie Huddy as assistant coach.

“We are extremely pleased to name Charlie Huddy to our coaching staff,” said Nieuwendyk. “He has a wealth of experience at the highest levels of hockey, and we know he’ll be a great fit with our young defensive corps. With his name on the Stanley Cup five times, plus three other trips to the Cup Final under his belt, he will certainly play an integral role in helping this team reach our goals.”

Huddy, 50, most recently served as an assistant coach with Edmonton for the past nine seasons (2000-2009) helping lead the Oilers to a 301-252-103 record during that span. Edmonton posted a 17-13 playoff record during his term as assistant coach, including a run to the 2006 Stanley Cup Final, in which the Oilers fell to Carolina in seven games.
