Sharks Sign Nick Petrecki

SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has signed defenseman Nick Petrecki, the team’s first round (28th overall) selection in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, to an NHL contract.  In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Petrecki has spent the last two seasons playing at Boston College.  This season, the Schenectady, NY native has posted seven assists in 35 games.  The sturdy defenseman also registered 161 penalty minutes, which ranked first on the team.

Petrecki played a significant role on Boston College’s 2008 National Championship team. The six-foot-three, 220-pound defenseman played in 42 games for the Eagles, registering 12 points (five goals, seven assists) while amassing 102 penalty minutes.
